The Vertical Village (Macquarie University) research project continues with three papers on theology of place due this month and co-ordinated by Churches Housing’s Rob Powell.
Face-to-face interviews will be held in five suburbs, while the literature review stands at 80,000 words.
May is the month projected for some kind of symposium, whether that be half-days or smaller time-blocks. These will be aimed at two audiences: churches and then developers and/or Councils.
The aim of this research is to explore how faith-based organisations (FBO) can help place-making and community development in multicultural high-rise, mix-tenure and high-density urban environments.
In addition to interviews and literature review, the research will explore current resident experiences of belonging in existing multi-cultural high-rise developments, drawing on a case study of the Macquarie Park precinct.
The project will compile an online toolkit and report that will inform FBO community development and place-making in multicultural high-rise urban areas.
